Following on from the post the other day and how print maybe needs to look at their business models especially online, then Rupert Murdoch goes and confirms that all News International sites will soon start to charge for content!

What smacks of corporate lunacy looks like bringing major benefits to bloggers and other independent publishers as surely people will source there content from these instead of the fee based print moguls.

Just read this brilliant article on Mashable about the future of education and how the internet can make a change to both how we educate and at what cost.

It can only be a good think if just a few of these elements continue to grow and maybe the changes that the digital medium can bring to both the economies and people of the world along with the benefits to the environment will start to gain more pace.

YrWall is an interactive drawing art tool where users create virtual digital graffiti on a large wall using a modified spray paint can. It is basically graffiti with a can that contains no paint, only a button and IR light source which is tracked using a computer vision system.

A pop-out interface is provided which enables the user to work with digital paint to create their own digital graffiti art. No more swapping paint cans to change colour or having to wear a face mask and gloves, this is totally environmentally friendly and accessible by anyone without any prior computer or graffiti skills.

Clay shows how Social Networks and the Internet (Facebook, Twitter and SMS) help citizens in repressive regimes to report on real news, bypassing censorship.

The end of top-down control of news is changing the nature of politics.

Clay Shirky is a prescient voice on the Internet’s effects and argues that emerging technologies enabling loose collaboration will change the way our society works!

I think he has a point and we are witnessing a sea change!

While news from Iran streams to the world, Clay Shirky shows how Facebook, Twitter and TXTs help citizens in repressive regimes to report on real news, bypassing censors (however briefly). The end of top-down control of news is changing the nature of politics.

About Clay Shirky
