Microsoft release first TV ad for its Bing search engine

The ad opens up with a number of familiar internet memes, including ‘keyboard cat‘ and ‘afro ninja‘, with a voiceover saying “we don’t need queries and keywords if they bring back questions and confusion.”

The ad continues with a number of flashing images with ’search overload’ written across the screen, a voice over reading “staring today we need the right information to make the right decisions. Decisions that help us feel right. Decisions that helps us get to the right place at the right time.”

The ad concludes with “Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to bing and decide.”

A bit ironic that the Ad is featuring on YouTube and that the campaign which launches today in the US across television, print, radio, online, including Google.

The “Battle for Search” continues :)

Looks like the beta of Bing was switched on in the early hours not had chance have a major look around yet – will report back when I have a little more time.

A few things that caught my eye were guided search assistance on the left and the different experiences for the images, videos, shopping, news and maps.

They even have a Twitter account :)

Dennis Schaal has a little review on Bing’s Travel functionality – as said above will try and play a little more later

Look out – Twitter – Facebook – etc Here Comes Google Wave!

Well with the highly charged race to the uber search engine at the moment – Google previewed a little bit of a curve ball in the form of Google Wave - which looks like a combination of all things web 2.0.

Will be interesting to see what form it eventually takes but must have Biz & Mark a little worried plus Steve’s new Bing may have a to do a workaround :)
